BMW calls this plastic trim piece, Grille. The screen covers the opening that sucks outside air through your vents when you turn you AC or heater on. The screen can be found between the hood and windshield. Overtime this part could start cracking or be missing all together if you are a 2nd or 3rd owner. If this happens leaves or other unwanted material could clog your heater core, or your evaporator core, or even the blower motor. If this happens you will have to pull the dash to get it cleaned out and repaired.
